Getting Started
What is Our Chapters?
Our Chapters is a private memory app built for parents. You and your partner can each write your own perspective on the same moments, from pregnancy through to your child's 18th birthday. Those memories become a chronological story you can order as a professionally printed hardback book.
How is this different from a photo album or scrapbook?
Photo albums store images. Our Chapters captures the story behind them: what happened, how it felt, what you want your child to know one day. It is built around two parent perspectives, so the finished book can hold more than one version of the same moment.
Do both parents have to use it?
No. One parent can use Our Chapters alone. It is designed for two, though, and every standard plan includes one invited seat, usually used for a co-parent. You can invite them when you are ready.
Can I add more than one child?
Yes. Each child has their own timeline, memories, photos and book drafts. One subscription covers your family rather than charging per child.
Can a memory appear on more than one child's timeline?
Yes. Shared moments can belong to more than one child, so family holidays, sibling milestones and days out can sit in each relevant timeline.
Can I use Our Chapters for adopted, foster or step-children?
Yes. Our Chapters is for parents and families capturing a child's story. It is not limited to one kind of family structure.
Can I use the app as a single parent?
Yes. You can write the story yourself. If your circumstances change later, you can invite another parent or trusted family member where your plan has an available invited seat.
Does it work for twins or siblings close in age?
Yes. Each child has their own timeline and book. Memories are dated precisely, so each child's story stays individual even when lots of moments are shared.
When should I start?
As early as you like. Our Chapters supports pregnancy memories, so you can start with your first scan, bump photos, due-date notes and the moments before birth.
Is the app available on iPhone and Android?
Our Chapters is coming soon to iPhone and Android. Join the waitlist to hear when invites open.
Your Account & Privacy
Is my data private?
Yes. Your memories, photos, videos, voice notes and child details are private. We do not sell family data or use children's content for advertising.
Who can see our memories?
You, your invited co-parent, and any trusted family members you invite and approve. Family contributions stay under parent control, and book-buying permission can be switched on or off for family members.
Can Our Chapters staff browse our photos or memories?
No. Photos are stored privately and accessed only by server-side services for things you ask for, such as book generation or approved media playback. Our team does not browse family content.
Are my children's photos safe?
Photos are kept in private storage, encrypted in transit and at rest by our infrastructure provider. Location metadata is stripped from uploaded photo and video media so we do not store where a child was photographed.
Can I edit my child's name, photo or details?
Yes. You can update your child's details in Settings. Those changes update their timeline and future book drafts.
Can I change my email address?
Yes. You can update your account email from Settings and confirm the change through a verification link.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. Account deletion is available in Settings. Deletion removes the account and associated data, with safety handling for shared family memories and storage cleanup.
Can I export my memories?
Yes. You can request an export from Settings. Export is available on every plan.
What happens if I switch phones?
Sign in on your new phone and your account data will come with you. Core writing flows are built to work offline first, then sync when your connection returns.
I'm separating from my partner. What happens to our shared memories?
Each parent owns their own perspective. The app includes a separation flow so a parent can take their own copy and continue independently. Our Chapters does not mediate family disputes; if there is a safeguarding concern, contact us at info@ourchapters.co.uk.
Subscription & Billing
What does Our Chapters cost?
Our Chapters has a free tier and paid plans:
- Free: 50 memories per child, 1 photo per memory, 1 voice note per account and all printed book tiers available to order.
- Premium Monthly: £4.99/month.
- Premium Annual: £44.99/year.
- Founding Member: £29.99/year for life for the first 100 families, while the subscription remains active.
- Family Pack: extra invited seats for wider family. Pricing is shown in the app when you choose plans.
What is a Founding Member?
The first 100 families can lock in the Founding Member rate of £29.99/year for as long as they keep that subscription active. Once those spots are gone, they are gone.
Can I invite grandparents or other family members?
Yes. Family Circle is built in. Standard plans include 1 invited seat, usually for your co-parent. Family Pack supports up to 5 invited seats for grandparents and other trusted family members. Parents stay in control: family contributions can be approved before they join the shared timeline, and book-buying permission can be managed per person.
Can I try it before I subscribe?
Yes. The free tier lets you use the core memory flow, invite one trusted person, order books and keep up to 50 memories per child. Upgrade when you want unlimited memories, more photos per memory, ongoing voice notes, video and extra family seats.
What happens to my memories if I cancel?
Your existing memories stay safe. You move back to the free tier, which means Premium-only additions such as extra photos, new video clips and new memories beyond the free cap pause until you resubscribe. You can still order books from content you are allowed to use.
Adding Memories
How do I add a memory?
Use the writing flow in the app, choose the child, add a title, date and your perspective, then attach optional photos, voice or video where your plan allows it.
Do I have to add photos?
No. Written memories can stand on their own. Photos, voice notes and videos are there when they help tell the story.
Can both parents write about the same memory?
Yes. A memory can hold up to two parent perspectives. Each parent owns and edits their own side, so the finished story can show both voices.
What if my partner and I remember something differently?
That is part of the point. Both perspectives can sit together in the same memory, so your child gets the fuller, more human version rather than one polished account.
How many photos can I add per memory?
Free accounts can add 1 photo per memory. Premium and Family Pack accounts can add up to 5 photos per memory.
Can I reorder photos inside a memory?
Not yet. Photos currently appear in the order you add them. Photo ordering is a good future improvement, especially for books.
Can I add voice notes?
Yes. Free accounts include 1 voice note across the account. Premium includes unlimited voice notes across the account, with 1 voice note per memory. Voice notes can be up to 5 minutes long.
Can I add videos?
Yes, on Premium. Videos are Premium-only and can be up to 30 seconds long.
Can I add memories from before I downloaded the app?
Yes. You can set the memory date manually, including dates from pregnancy. The timeline and book drafts organise memories chronologically.
Can I reorder memories manually?
Memories are ordered by date. To move a memory, edit its date and it will appear in the right place.
How many memories can I store?
Free accounts can keep up to 50 memories per child. Premium and Family Pack accounts support unlimited memories.
Can I edit or delete a memory?
Yes. You can edit your own perspective. Deleted perspectives have a 30-day grace period so accidental deletes can be recovered before permanent removal.
Ordering Your Book
How do I create my book?
Use the Book area in the app, choose the child and select what you want to include. You can review the draft before placing an order.
How does the printed book work?
Our Chapters turns selected memories into a professionally laid out hardback book, then sends the print order to our print partner for production and delivery.
Can I download my book as a PDF?
Not yet. Books are focused on printed hardbacks first. Data export is separate and available from Settings.
How much does a book cost?
Books start at £34 for 30 pages, then increase by 50p for each additional page, up to 300 pages. You pay for the pages you need rather than being forced into a subscription-gated book size.
Can I order a book on the free tier?
Yes. Free users can order all printed book tiers. Trial and first-30-days-paid guardrails can still delay ordering, and family members need book-buying permission from a parent.
What is the book printed on?
The current book specification is A4 portrait hardback on Mohawk Luxury Matte paper. Spine width is queried live from the print partner for each generated book.
How long does delivery take?
Printed books are typically expected within 7-10 working days after the order is placed. Dispatch timing can vary around production and courier conditions.
Can I order more than one copy?
Yes. You can order extra copies for grandparents, siblings or anyone else you want to give the book to.
What if my book arrives damaged or misprinted?
Email info@ourchapters.co.uk with your order details and photos of the issue so we can look into it with the print partner.
Technical & Troubleshooting
The app is running slowly or freezing. What should I do?
Close and reopen the app first. If the problem continues, check that you have the latest version installed. If it still happens, email us with your device model and what you were doing when it happened.
I can't upload a photo or video. What should I do?
Check that Our Chapters has permission to access your photos. Video is Premium-only and clips must be 30 seconds or shorter. If permissions and plan limits look right, email info@ourchapters.co.uk.
I forgot my password. How do I reset it?
Use the forgot-password link on the sign-in screen and follow the email instructions. Check your spam folder if the email does not arrive.
I'm not receiving emails from Our Chapters. What should I do?
Check spam or junk, add info@ourchapters.co.uk to your contacts, and make sure your account email is correct.
My partner or family member hasn't received their invitation. What should I do?
Ask them to check spam first. Then confirm the email address and resend the invite from the app. If it still does not arrive, contact us.
Is Our Chapters a backup service for my photos?
No. We store the media attached to your memories, but Our Chapters is not a replacement for your own photo backup. Keep your own copies of important photos and videos.
I've found a bug. How do I report it?
Email info@ourchapters.co.uk with what happened, your device type and screenshots if you have them.
